Discovery
The path to Buddhism often begins with a question, a crisis, or the quiet sense that conventional life is not enough. For the practitioners in this theme, discovery is less about adopting a new identity and more about finding a path that speaks directly to their lived experience.
Lennell’s search grew out of racism, spiritual dissatisfaction, and a lifelong inquiry into psychology, African philosophy, and interconnectedness before she found a practical home in Won Buddhism. Dennis came to Zen after questioning fear-based ideas of salvation within Christianity, discovering a more open and inclusive understanding of spirituality. Ani Lodro moved from corporate success into Hindu practice and eventually Tibetan Buddhism, where service, compassion, and a structured path gave deeper meaning to the spiritual experiences she had already encountered.
Together, their stories show that discovering Buddhism is rarely a straight line. It often unfolds through doubt, hardship, exploration, and the gradual recognition that the teachings offer a way to understand suffering, purpose, and the mind more deeply.
